Last week, says Rowland, finished my first short animation film with me as the animator. It looks as if it was done by a small child but you've got to start somewhere. I made the film in response to a call for entries for a small competition run by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. They provided the music and they wanted people to make animated silent films to go with it. The only stipulation was that the film had to mention the city of Birmingham or show a picture of it. I had an idea based around some very bad puns that was relatively short so I went for it.
A little on the short side 11

I love a nice cup of tea - especially when it is responsible for the destruction of the hard drive on my laptop! Through a laughable domino effect of events that would make Buster Keaton weep I managed to loose all the data on my drive. All that remained was a whirring/beeping sound, fortunately I had backed it up the week before but I hadn't got round to saving all the material I shot following that... So time for a reshoot. After that I need to find some editing software - I've lost my Final Cut Pro disk (though I got the box it came in).

Going Green

The argument of this piece about a dissatisfied traffic light is really the frustrations of an oppressive city life, of going against what is expected of you. There is an environmental angles to it too but that is just a backdrop.

Moving Takahashi
orestis. — Thu, 22/03/2012 - 14:27
An ambitious mover is blindsided when he discovers that one of the pieces of furniture left behind for him is a suicidal daughter with 20 minutes left to live.
A beautifully executed short about a young man, and his Latino side kick, who whilst packing the contents of house for moving come across the family's step daughter who is trying to kill herself. In an apparently rare fit of conscience the young man tries to help her.
Although it reeks of predictable romance, the film does a very good job of telling a story well.
